A faithful presence of love in the absences of our city.

Sunday Worship Service

SERVICES

We gather as a community to worship and center our lives around the good news about Jesus each Sunday.  Worship for us is a core value, and essential part of being involved at City Pres.   The Bible refers to believers as sons and daughters of God. That truth makes us a family ... and families gather. We gather weekly on Sundays to worship through music, liturgy, teaching, prayer, and sacraments.

WHEN AND WHERE?

We meet at 10:00 am on Sundays at 210 Truman St. NE.  Until recently, we had been meeting at the NDI Hiland Theater on Central. When we found this new space that fit us perfectly and helped us stay in the heart of the neighborhood in the city that we love, we decided to make the move!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We want you to feel free to come as you are. You'll find that most people dress casually (jeans, t-shirts, shorts) but some prefer to dress up a little more (slacks and collared shirts, dresses or skirts). Some people prefer to wear jerseys--you do you, you're welcome here.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY KIDS?

Children ranging from 6 months through 5th grade are welcome to participate in the City Kids Ministry where they will learn about the gospel in a fun way and in a safe environment. All of our children's workers have undergone background checks and training prior to volunteering. City Pres has both nursery and Children's Church for our kids.  Our nursery is for ages 6 months - 3 years, and preschool for ages 3 - 5 years.  Here they will be loved on by a team of four volunteers, as well as taught a relevant lesson and engaging in play.  Children's Church is for kids kindergarten - 5th grade.  These children join us for about half the service.  They then leave with their teacher where they will learn the Gospel, play games and do crafts.

WHAT IS A SERVICE LIKE?

Our services typically run about 75-90 minutes. People can arrive early and stay late or grab lunch and catch up with friends. We start our services with music and what we like to refer to as a 'Call to Worship' that reminds our community why we're gathered and reinforces our purpose in seeking to follow and worship Christ. We read both ancient and modern confessions of faith and teach sermons out of the Bible.  The sermon is designed to take God's Word, His loving will for our lives, and make it applicable for everyone in ways and terms we can all understand. We respond to the teaching with more singing and weekly celebrating the sacrament of communion, and a benediction or 'good word of blessing' to remind us of who we are and what we're called to in Jesus Christ. We are led in singing by a worship band, and you can expect a combination of hymns and new worship songs.

We hope to see you at City Presbyterian Church this week!
