A faithful presence of love in the absences of our city.

Introducing Advent 2016

In the next two weeks we will be starting a new series for Advent and Christmastime called: The Song that God Sings: Minor Key Melodies from the Minor Prophets. Where is God? This question reverberates in the prayers of the doubter, the skeptic, the atheist, the agnostic...and in the hearts of God's people alike. We see the brokenness surrounding our lives and our very own hearts, and we ask, where are you God? We see injustice in the world, in our nation, our state, our city, in our home, and we cry out, where are you God? How long must this go on?

What happens when God shows up? The deep desires of our hearts are revealed. The waywardness of our worship is apparent. We are the perpetrators. We cause the brokenness. We create the injustice. We have not done the good that we should have, but have done the evil that we should not. What now?

The minor prophets of scripture resonate in our souls like melodies from minor keys ring in our ears. They add depth to the song that God is singing in the world. They proclaim the goodness of God and the hope of resolution among the wayward and the wicked, the broken and the unfaithful. This song is the siren song. Not dashing us on the rocks, but beckoning us...come back to Me, I have not left you. I have not forsaken you. I will redeem you. I will save you. This song calls us back to Him; back to the God we have questioned, back to the God who seemed absent, back to the God who is ever faithful in the midst of our unfaithfulness.

Join us this Advent and Christmas season as we hear the song of God in the minor key that woos us and warns us, that welcomes us and works in us, and brings us back to the God who is there, and who is not silent. The God who rejoices over us with singing.
